Flashcards for the Spanish that comes after beginner.
Most language apps stop around B1 and start over with the next language. Evocar starts where they stop: authentic sentences, regional nuance, register, and professional vocabulary — scheduled with spaced repetition and studied through active recall.
The app is named after what makes flashcards work. Retrieving an answer from memory — not recognizing it — is what builds retention. Every card in Evocar asks you to produce the answer before you flip.
Built for B1 to C2, on purpose
Evocar is a focused flashcard tool, not a course. It assumes you already have the basics and gives you the part most apps never get to: the vocabulary, idioms, and register distinctions that separate functional Spanish from fluent Spanish.
Starts at intermediate
Decks organized by CEFR level from B1 through C2, with register and regional notes on cards. No colors-and-animals review lap before the real material.
Active recall, properly
Cloze deletion in authentic sentences. You produce the answer from memory before the card flips — the study method with the strongest evidence behind it.
Spaced repetition scheduling
Reviews are scheduled by a spaced-repetition algorithm so cards return right before you'd forget them. The research is on our science page.
Regional nuance
Voseo, vosotros, words that change meaning across the Atlantic, formal versus colloquial register — flagged on the cards where it matters.
Professional Spanish In development
Extensive medical and legal vocabulary decks are being built for professionals who use Spanish at work — terminology, not tourist phrases.
Built to be studied with, not fought with
Evocar is designed to reduce friction and cognitive load — informed by how ADHD brains work, and accessible to colorblind users. Card color marks how well you know a card, never the topic. Color is never the only signal: every state is paired with an icon and a text label, and color coding can be turned off entirely. Session progress is visible on every card.
